I’ve come to view October as an indicator of what the upcoming year will bring. It’s about numerology: Add the digits of a number until you get only one digit, and then contemplate on its meaning. The months of January through September all already have only one digit. But October has two, 1 and 0, which add up to 1, same as January. I regard September as a good month to review what has transpired since the beginning of the year, and work on what still needs to be processed. October is time to tune into the hints of the new while finishing up the old. Harvest the seeds and decide on the ones to plant for the year ahead. The essence of what we sow now will be revealed in nine months, in June next year.

Which of your wishes have been on the back burner of hope for too long? Choose which one of these you’d like to put up front, fueled by focused action, for the upcoming year? This is not necessarily a willful forward push; that comes in Spring. Now it’s time for discernment and contemplation, activities of our higher level thinking capacities. Observe what life is offering to you at this moment, and contemplate on the insights these gifts carry with them. And yes, include the joys and the pains, as they all are presents of the life on Earth. Search for the purity of thoughts that result from thinking on a higher level. Look for the clarity of conscious intuition. Allow space for intuitive perception to grow and mature within you.

Enjoy the luscious autumn abundance; ponder the withering away into Halloween and All Souls Day in the anticipation of a new birth at the Winter Solstice. Remember that whenever something dies, a seed for the new is left behind. Always. The circle of death and rebirth is a magical continuum of Life, held in Love, and penetrated by Light. Let go of the old as you learn from it. Be open for the new on the wings of acquired wisdom.

Are you ready for the profound mystery that we are all uncomfortable to acknowledge? Love is a unique human capacity. Light is the virtue of the Heavens; Life is the attribute of the Earth. Homo Sapiens arose out of the sacred marriage of Light and Life. Why? So that we can imbue the Universe with the energies of Love. Tall order. And we are failing miserably, aren’t we? Dark forces out there are succeeding in destroying the impulse to Love within us. Unconditional Love towards every member of the human race is the only Savior there is. Are we up to this essential challenge of humanity?

We are all bruised and injured and broken. Scared to death. Terror kills; Love nurtures happiness. Light dissolves fear and protects us from negativity. May your thoughts be bright and positive.

Life gives us the passion to live, the urge to get up when we fall, to gather broken pieces and collect ourselves anew. May your will to live be strong, yet gentle.

Compassion towards ourselves and others keeps our heart alive. Forgive every one, including yourself. Cultivate genuine friendship with fellow humans. May your feelings be of pure Love and compassion towards yourself and every person you meet. Isn’t our deepest dream to be loved? Dare, I beg you, dare to open your heart, regardless how severely hurt you’ve been in the past. Love. Love is all we need. Always. Plant the seeds of Love from the purity of your awakened human heart.
